Could light rail drive out South Blvd. diversity? (Charlotte Observer) - Some say light rail could bring major changes to the burgeoning Latino district after the trains start barreling along the South Boulevard corridor in 2006. Dozens of Latino businesses operate along about four miles of South Boulevard between Clanton Road and Arrowood Road, and shops and restaurants open practically every month. But some development experts say the train stations could lead to pricey development, pricing Latino businesses off the street.
Light-rail funds included in bill's final form (Phoenix Business Journal) - The Valley's proposed light-rail system is poised to receive $18 million in federal funds via a spending measure that could soon be approved by Congress.
